Lactation Consultants IBCLC
The ISPHN Service employ 3 qualified lactation consultants and are training 6 more. The lactation consultants are here to support you on your feeding journey. They have undertaken an extensive one-year IBCLC accredited training course in research-based breastfeeding. There services are free.
The International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) credential is the highest-regarded professional qualification in breastfeeding knowledge and support, recognised all over the world. All our IBCLC are either health visitors or occupational therapists and have additional, extensive and advanced training in breastfeeding and lactation issues. To sit the exam, they must also have at least 1,000 hours of proven clinical experience, working with breastfeeding mothers and babies.
All IBCLCs also work according to the IBLCE Code of Professional Conduct.
You will be offered the opportunity to be listened to without judgement. Our lactation consultants will discuss your options and explore what would work for you, alongside offering relevant information for you to achieve your feeding goals.
We will continue to support you however you feed your baby.
